Mylow Young is an author who struggled with severe drug addiction for more than half of his life.  Young has written his debut novel,  Against the Gates of Hell that reveals an inside look at the internal and external struggles of twin brothers who find themselves in need of God’s grace, love and forgiveness and a second chance as they fight for their lives against the very gates of hell.

This hope-filled story reveal the internal and external struggles of two men who find themselves in need of God’s grace, love and forgiveness as they fight for their lives against the very gates of hell.

After years of growing up in a dysfunctional home and struggling with drug addiction, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, motivating him to write the novel, Against the Gates of Hell: A Crack House Exodus.

Young told The Christian Post that one of the main issues stalling recovery today and remaining faithful to God is that “the devil gets mad when he loses you.”

“It is spiritual warfare,” Young said.

The devil keeps trying to keep you down by talking trash. He tells you that you don’t measure up. But, we all must get to the point when we realize that God sees Christ in us and knows what the finished product looks like.”

His addiction continued to cost him throughout his life – his self-respect, jobs, marriage and even his walk with Christ. As the bottom fell out of his life and darkness consumed his soul, he sold all that he held dear for an elusive state of peacethrough drugs.

Young says he is convinced that God can work through any pain, resentment and hardened heart. “God heals,” Young said. “He reminds us that He has always been by our side. No lifestyle is too hardcore for God to fix.”

Young wants other addicts or those going through recovery to read his new book so they will realize that through all mistakes in life, God wants to expose our sins, heal us and help overcome the past.

“Forgiving ourselves for past sins is hard and only possible through Christ.”

Within the pages of Young’s new 420-page book is an intriguing journey of three invented characters that represent the stages of Young’s troubled life and ultimate victory over a life of ugly sin and bad behavior.

Young told The Christian Post that he hopes readers will see the power of God’s unconditional love through one man’s struggle to break free of a crack addiction and the effort to turn around.

“I started writing the book while I was in rehab,” Young said. “I realized that I never had a mentor to guide me and I never thought I really measured up to others.”

Young said people struggling with addiction today worry about what other people think about them, resulting in an overwhelming feeling of inadequacy. “I lacked the desire to fulfill my dreams of becoming a professional football player,” he said.

“I did not care if I was homeless or if I had lost everything I had. It was all about the crack and that next big high because I felt like a failure.”

Young believes that addiction is about spiritual warfare – good and evil battling against each other.

“After relapsing so many times I realized my triggers were money and anger,” he said. “The devil just sits back and watches you. He likes it when you feel unworthy, defeated and like a failure.”

Looking at yourself through God’s eyes is the only way to heal, recover and regain feelings of self-worth, he highlighted.

“The guilt during recovery is hard but if you look at yourself the way God does, you are clean when forgiven,” he said. “If others do not forgive you when you ask them, it is on them. Not you.”

It was in Christ that Young was finally capable of fulfilling his God-given purpose and he learned that God had never given up on him.

Today, Young has been free from drugs for more than eight years after totally surrendering his life to Jesus Christ. He finally discovered his identity and strength lies in Christ alone after 20 years of addiction and falling into the traps of Satan.

He has found newness of life and the feelings of unworthiness have disappeared. He and his wife Sondra attend The Connection of Statesville Church in North Carolina where Young serves as a deacon.

Obama is the antichrist.

A protester David Serrano (C) shouted Biblical messages and then said Mr Obama was the Antichrist before he was ejected by Secret Service agents during an election campaign rally at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, September 26, 2011.

Well, that is according to one heckler in Los Angeles on Monday night. President Obama was interrupted by a man shouting about Christianity as he was giving a speech for a fundraiser at the House of Blues. The man, later identified as David Serrano, was quickly dragged out of the room by security guards.

According to The Associated Press, the man centered himself in the room and started shouting that Jesus Christ is God and that God is a Christian God. The interruption took place immediately after Obama took the stage and the president was forced to stop talking for a moment.

After that, the Obama-friendly crowd began to chant, “Four more years! Four more years!” in order to drown out the disruptive audience member.

On his way out the door, the heckler proclaimed that Obama was the antichrist.

The antichrist is a figure in Christian theologythat is destined to come in the “last days” of Earth. The figure, according to Scripture, will seek to resemble Christ but will in actuality be the antithesis of good. The Bible says that he or she will provide the people with what they need on Earth but will deny them salvation.

As Serrano was being dragged away, Obama nodded as he watched the scene unfold.

Before he continued with his speech, Obama announced:  “First of all, I agree, Jesus Christ is the Lord. I believe in that.”

The crowd immediately cheered with approval.   The heckler ended up not being arrested.

The heckler’s claim that Obama is the antichrist is among the many myths that surround President Obama regarding his faith.

A Winthrop University poll of South Carolina voters shows that nearly 30 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents in that state believe that Obama is a Muslim.

While Obama’s biological father was a Muslim-turned-atheist, Obama was baptized in the United Church of Christ as an adult.

On Monday, MSNBC host of The Last Word, Lawrence O’Donnell, invited columnist and historian Matthew Sutton to appear on his show to discuss why Obama can’t seem to shake the antichrist accusation. Sutton’s recent column in The New York Times titled, “Why the Antichrist Matters in Politics,” created a stir in the evangelical community.

In the segment, Sutton explains that Obama fits the mold of the evangelical understanding of the antichrist as a superficial character who promises to grant security and peace to all people but is really working on the side of evil. The last president to fit the mold was Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great Depression.

Attacks on Obama’s character started in 2008 when many Republicans considered him a “light weight” and superficial candidate. While Sutton acknowledged the attacks were against “Obama as celebrity and Obama as superstar,” he also mentioned that the image is one of “a twenty-first century kind of leader which raises certain suspicions” by promising peace and prosperity with lofty and emotional language and then not backing those claims up.

According to Sutton, if the economy continues to falter, Obama may continue to have a hard time convincing some on the far religious right that he is, indeed, a Christian.

Sutton writes, “While few of the faithful truly think that the president is the Antichrist, millions of voters, like their Depression-era predecessors, fear that the time is short. The sentiment that Mr. Obama is preparing the United States, as Roosevelt did, for the Antichrist’s global coalition is likely to grow.”

Popular “700 Club” host Pat Robertson was blasted for giving controversial advice that seemingly approved of divorcing one’s spouse because of Alzheimer’s. But on Monday’s airing of the show, he attempted to clear up what he said was “misinterpreted.”

“I want to say I envy the Catholic priest, because when they have someone in confession its all kept secret,” Robertson said. “When I have somebody asking me for advice, it spreads world [wide] and it gets misunderstood.”

A viewer had asked for Robertson’s advice regarding a friend who had a wife suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. That friend began seeing another woman.

“My friend has gotten bitter at God for allowing his wife to be in that condition, and now he’s started seeing another woman. He says that he should be allowed to see other people because his wife as he knows her is gone,” the viewer, Andreas, wrote to CBN.

Robertson received backlash when he advised the husband to “divorce her and start all over again” if he was to take any action. He added that the husband should make sure that her custodial care was taken care of but to consult an ethicist for further consultation.

The CBN founder explained on Monday that his advice was not meant for general use but was for the specific question that was asked.

“Basically I’m saying, adultery is not a good thing and you might as well straighten your life out and the only way to do it is to kind of get your affair with your wife in order,” he said.

He then explained that he and his wife love each other and have supported one another through their various illnesses and that’s the way it should be and this kind of behavior should be expected.

“I was not giving advice to the whole world and nor was I counseling anybody to be unscriptural and leave their spouse,” he clarified.

Co-host Terry Meeuwsen noted that Robertson and his wife have had close friends affected by the disease and have seen firsthand the pain that the caretaker spouse experiences.

Robertson ended by saying, “Please know that I believe the Bible. Please know that I never would tell anybody to leave their sick spouse. I never never would say such a thing because I need my spouse when I get sick and she needs me when she gets sick.” He continued, “In sickness and in health, I believe it!”

I  still think he should have told the man to quit seeing the other woman, and start taking caring of his wife!  He needs to remember the vows he said before God, and made to his spouse, honoring them, not being selfish, moving on to another relationship.
