Amos 4

Amos 4
1Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
2The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.
3And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
4Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:
5And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
6And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
7And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
8So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
9I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
10I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
11I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
12Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
13For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
I surely wish mankind would finally open their eyes, and realize, that the one and true God in Heaven, the creator of all earth, governs all we do, all we have, all we receive. We need to be thankful to Him for all that He has bestowed on us. His love is bountiful and will never cease. We are the ones that have turned out backs on Him, continually, yet He continues to call us into His fold, wanting to share the glories of Heaven with Him. All He asks of us is to worship Him, obey His simple commandments, and we will enter into His kingdom.
How long will He continue to be ignored, before He will finally say, “Enough!”? He shows punishment to us for disobeying Him, but to certain individuals at a time, not everyone at once, just so we may learn from others, but do we?? We are stubborn, things have to happen to us personally before we learn, and that’s if we do. We need to get back on our knees, and pray, rededicate our lives back to God, our Creator, thanking Him for all His blessings in our lives.

Yellow Roses

I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying groceries.
I wasn’t hungry. The pain of losing my husband of 57 years was still too raw.
And this grocery store held so many sweet memories.
He often came with me
and almost every time he’d pretend to go off and look for something special. I
knew what he was up to. I’d always spot him walking down the aisle with the
three yellow roses in his hands.
He knew I loved yellow roses. With a
heart filled with grief, I only wanted to buy my few items and leave, but even
grocery shopping was different since he had passed on.
Shopping for one
took time, a little more thought than it had for two.
Standing by the
meat, I searched for the perfect small steak and remembered how he had loved his
steak.
Suddenly a woman came beside me. She was blonde, slim and lovely
in a soft green pantsuit. I watched as she picked up a large package of T-bones,
dropped them in her basket.. Hesitated, and then put them back. She turned to go
and once again reached for the pack of steaks.
She saw me watching her
and she smiled. ‘My husband loves T-bones, but honestly, at these prices, I
don’t know.’
I swallowed the emotion down my throat and met her pale blue
eyes.
‘My husband passed away eight days ago,’ I told her. Glancing at
the package in her hands, I fought to control the tremble in my voice.. ‘Buy him
the steaks. And cherish every moment you have together.’
She shook her
head and I saw the emotion in her eyes as she placed the package in her basket
and wheeled away.
I turned and pushed my cart across the length of the
store to the dairy products. There I stood, trying to decide which size milk I
should buy. A quart, I finally decided and moved on to the ice cream. If nothing
else, I could always fix myself an ice cream cone.
I placed the ice cream
in my cart and looked down the aisle toward the front. I saw first the green
suit, then recognized the pretty lady coming towards me. In her arms she carried
a package. On her face was the brightest smile! I had ever seen. I would swear a
soft halo encircled her blonde hair as she kept walking toward me, her eyes
holding mine.
As she came closer, I saw what she held and tears began
misting in my eyes. ‘These are for you,’ she said and placed three beautiful
long stemmed yellow roses in my arms. ‘When you go through the line, they will
know these are paid for.’ She leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek,
then smiled again. I wanted to tell her what she’d done, what the roses meant,
but still unable to speak, I watched as she walked away as tears clouded my
vision.
I looked down at the beautiful roses nestled in the green tissue
wrapping and found it almost unreal. How did she know? Suddenly the answer
seemed so clear. I wasn’t alone.
Oh, you haven’t forgotten me, have you?
I whispered, with tears in my eyes. He was still with me, and she was his
angel.
Every day be thankful for what you have and who you are. (Please
read all of this, it is really nice)
This is a simple request. If you
appreciate life, send this to your friends, including the person that sent it to
you.
Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings. Thank you, Lord,
that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes
closed against the morning light as long as possible. Thank you, Lord , that I
can see. Many are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off
rising.. Thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who
are bedridden.
Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks
are lost, toast is burned, tempers are short, and my children are so
loud.
Thank you, Lord, for my family. There are many who are
lonely.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the picture in
magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced. Thank you, Lord, for the food we
have. There are many who are hungry.
Even though the routine of my job
often is monotonous. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are
many who have no job.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day
to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest. Thank you, Lord, for
life.
Pass this on to the friends you know. It might help a bit to make
this world a better place to live, right? A friend is someone we turn to when
our spirits need a lift. A friend is someone to treasure.
For friendship
is a gift. A friend is someone who fills our lives with Beauty, Joy and Grace
and makes the world we live in a better and happier place.
YOU ARE MY
FRIEND!
God bless you and yours.

You Came to Taste Death, Yet You Were the Life

O Lord, You received affronts
without number from Your blasphemers,
yet each day You free captive souls
from the grip of the ancient enemy.
You did not avert Your face
from the spittle of perfidy,
yet You wash souls in saving waters.
You accepted Your scourging without murmur,
yet through your meditation
You deliver us from endless chastisements.
You endured ill-treatment of all kinds,
yet You want to give us a share
in the choirs of angels in glory everlasting.
You did not refuse to be crowned with thorns,
yet You save us from the wounds of sin.
In your thirst You accepted the bitterness of gall,
yet You prepare Yourself to fill us with eternal delights.
You kept silence under the derisive homage
rendered You by Your executioners,
yet You petition the Father for us
although You are his equal in Divinity.
You came to taste death,
yet You were the Life
and had come to bring it to the dead.
Amen.

Here is a link to go to the website to sign a petition to cancel the series, to contact the NBC leaders, their advertisers, etc. Please go to this website and check it out. They say it doesn’t have anything thing to do with nudity, but they made the female stars sign a nudity waiver clause in their contract to show nudity, so go figure. This type of program should not be on TV, let alone on the channels children can easily access!!
The website to go to is www.closetheclubonnbc.com. Please go there and sign this petition. Our children are getting attack from every side with violence, nudity, perversion, etc. enough. Thank you!

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds… James 1:2
As most of you know, I had the privilege of attending the She Speaks Conference several weeks ago. One of the breakout sessions I attended, led by Whitney Capps, was on Spiritual Warfare. Upon returning home, I found Spiritual Warfare for Women: Winning the battle for your home, family and friends wrapped up like a present in my mailbox. God speaking maybe?
I’d say, yep, think so! I started reading the book this week on vacation and He has really opened my eyes to the warfare stuff. My struggles with fears I think are silly are not from Him, or from myself even, but from my enemy the devil. He is out to get what he can from me, my testimony, my joy. I’ve known this in my head, but upon reading this book by Leighann McCoy, my eyes and heart have been opened in a mighty way.
She warns to be on the alert when you figure out what Satan’s doing, it’s then he comes on even stronger. I choose to claim the promises of God and declare Satan is not welcome in my thoughts or my life. One central truth Leighann emphasizes is:
Every attack from the enemy brings with it a divine invitation from the sovereign hand of
God to learn by experience what love does.
What a concept! If we can truly grasp the fact that everything the enemy throws our way can be an opportunity to experience God like we never have before…wow, what freedom we could have. Free to dance…free to live…free to love…just free….I plan to keep muddling my way through this book and I plan to catch the devil in his schemes against me.

Because of Limitless Abortion, Women Everywhere Face a “Freedom Gap”
05 Aug 2011 1 Comment
Freedom” is a strange word in our day. It has been used in so many contexts at so many times that it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it means now to most speakers and advocates. More than not, however, it is safe to assume that post-moderns use the word to sum up their “right” to do what they want, when they want, where they want. “Whatever” they want. No, it’s not our Founding Fathers’ notion of “freedom” in the least, but it’s a stipulation we’re working under in the 21st century.
The problem with such a definition is that in many cases, “freedom” is so ego-centric it’s self-defeating.
For example, although it can be argued that many rightly appealed to “freedom” as a justification for women’s equality in some battles of the early 20th century, a far more left-leaning swath of advocates appealed to the same for an ideologically driven agenda aimed at lessening gender-based policies and America’s ongoing allegiance to the family as it has always been understood. As a result of the latter, instead of increasing their enjoyment of freedom, women actually face a “freedom gap” that was not present prior to the legacy of Roe v Wade (1973).
This is chiefly due to the fact that one of the clearest results of the revisionist legal movement in the United States was the court-ordered allowance of abortion on demand in Roe, and it’s now demonstrable that one of the unforeseen outcomes of such abortion practices has been the killing of far more preborn girls than preborn boys (that is, in the name of “freedom,” women are literally killing themselves.)
And sadly, this “freedom gap” is even more pronounced if we look at it internationally, where many countries also went down the path of accepting the practice of killing preborn children on demand and have, as a result, seen girls aborted at exponentially higher levels than boys.
In South Korea, for instance, “the sex ratio for first births…was 104 boys for every 100 girls…in 1989.” But if a couple’s first child was a girl, they turned to abortion in order to prevent the birth of a second girl and the result was a sex ratio for second births of 113 boys to 100 girls. For the third birth it was 185 boys for 100 girls and for the fourth, 209 boys for 100 girls. In India alone, where abortion based on gender is rampant, it is estimated that up to 12 million girls were aborted between the years 1980 and 2010.
According to researcher Mara Hvistendahl, throughout the world there have been so many “sex-selective abortions in the past three decades that 163 million girls” that should have been born were killed instead.
One-hundred sixty-three million. Could a greater “freedom gap” be imaginable?
Yet it seems that even when confronted with these numbers, the left remains so adamant about protecting “access” to abortion that they aren’t prepared to give an inch. And some even argue that “women become scarce, their value increases, and…this as a positive development.”When Thomas Jefferson wrote the words “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” as a summary of the kind of freedoms we were meant to enjoy, it was foremost in his mind, and implicit in the phrase itself, that “life” is the first of many conditions for the “liberty” and “happiness” that follow. Today, we are trying to pursue “liberty” and “happiness” without giving “life” its rightful place, and it’s simply not working.
Instead of freedom, women now have a “freedom gap” as a result of the policies of the left.
