1 John 2:3-29

King James Version (KJV)

3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

7Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

8Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

10He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

11But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

12I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.

13I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

18Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

25And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

26These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

27But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

28And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

29If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Once we become a Christian, we are to go out and witness, trying to bring others into the kingdom of God.  Today’s lesson tells us about becoming Christ’s disciples, and one of the things he commands is what we call “The Great Commission

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Unfortunately, too many people who call themselves Christians fail miserably in that area.  They wear the name “Christian” as a status symbol, and have lost all aspect of what being a Christian really means.
How do you know your husband/wife truly loves you?  If he/she went out to the club every weekend, dancing with someone other than you, would you start to doubt that love?  If they were right by your side in every crisis, wouldn’t that prove their love and devotion to you?  That’s just like Christians loving Jesus.  They’ll love Jesus in good times and bad, if they truly love Him.  Someone who is not truly in love with Jesus will start blaming Him when things get rough, ready to jump ship, so to speak.  A true Christian will always be ready to pray, fellowship with Jesus whenever he speaks to them, obeying Him when He asks them to do something.
God is love, we’ve all heard this time, after time.  Love is a very powerful feeling, one that makes the giver, and the receiver, feel good.  So loving someone is a good gift from God.  On the other hand, there’s hate.  hate makes people unhappy, both the person that hates, and the person who feels the hate.  When you hate someone, it puts a toll on your emotions, which puts a strain on your body, and in the long run, if not addressed, could cause an earlier death.  God is all about love, but the world is all about hate, so in turn we Christians are instructed to love not the things of this world, because if we do, the love of God isn’t in us.  People who love the things of this world are never satisfied.  They are always searching for something else that will make them happy, because worldly pleasure is so short-lived.  If only they will look for the good things above, the love of God, that will give them the peace and happiness, that will last for eternity.  People need to remember to always look up to God to be happy, not down in the world, because they will never find happiness here on earth.
Christians have to be ever watchful, and waiting, for that glorious day when our Lord, Jesus Christ, comes back to take us home to Heaven.  It pains me that I waited so long to finally get my life right with God, but I’m so glad I finally did!  I think of all the so-called Christians who are professing Christ as their Savior, but are doing all sorts of worldly things, letting so many worldly things be done in their church, when they are in charge of making sure it doesn’t come in, like pastors who are changing their policies to allow homosexuals to join their church, and marry them, etc.  These people will answer to God.  Christians are called haters because they don’t believe in this type of thing, but it’s not true.  We don’t hate anyone, we hate the sin, we don’t tolerate it, we speak out against it, but we don’t hate the person.  We just need to pray for them, and the whole world, for that matter.  I will be so glad when Jesus does come back to call His children home, and I’m looking forward to that day, but until the, I’ll keep praying, and pressing onward.  What about you?

  2. Francis says:

    “Love Not The World!”

The brethren of The Messiah have taken heed unto The Call to “Come Out of her, MY people!”! And we no longer have our portion with those who follow “the broad way that leads to destruction”! (Revelation 18:4, Matthew 7:13)

Thankfully we are but “aliens and pilgrims while on the earth” for our “citizenship is in Heaven”! (Hebrews 11:13, 1Peter 2:11, Philippians 3:20)

So it is that we have “Come Out” of the systems that are of this wicked world, and especially it’s systems of religion!

And we have taken heed unto the exhortation to:

    “Love Not The World!”

For almost two thousand years ago Truth testified, “the WHOLE(not just a portion) world is under the control of the evil one”……. (I John 5:19)

Thankfully “whoever is Born of GOD overcomes the world, and this is The Victory that overcomes the world, even our Faith!” (I John 5:4)

And John testified, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world will pass away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of The Only True GOD will abide for ever.”(IJohn2:15-17)

The Messiah testified, “If you were of the world, the world would love it’s own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his Master. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.” (John15:19-20)

James testified, “Where do wars and fighting among you come from? Do they not come of your lusts that war in your members? You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war yet you have not, because you ask not. You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts. You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is to be at enmity with The Only True GOD? Therefore whoever will be a friend of the world is the enemy of The Only True GOD.” (James 4:1-4)

The Messiah testified, “The world cannot hate you; but the world hates Me, because I testify that the works of this world are evil.” (John 7:7)” And Paul testified, “The Messiah gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of The Only True God, Our Father.”(Gal 1:4)

The Messiah testified: “If the world hates you know that it hated Me before it hated you.”(John 5:18) Truly, Truly, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die it brings forth much fruit. He that loves his life in this world shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall have it unto life eternal.” (John 12:24-25)

John testified: “Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hates you.” (I John 3:13)

James testified, “Whoever would be a friend of this world is the enemy of GOD!” (James4:4)

“Come Out of her, MY people”!

“Come Out” of the systems that are of this wicked world, especially it’s systems of religion for they but carry on the legacy of the pharisee’s ;-(

Global warming, polluted air, land and waters; toxic wastes, sexual perversion, evil inventions of destruction, systems of religion, lies, deception, delusion, greed, hate, carnal warfare, dis-ease(no-peace),,etc,, are all destructive processes that have their root in “the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life” which caused Eve to fall victim to ‘d’evil, and which continue to fuel the fires of mankind’s “imag”ination ;-(

“Come out from among them and be separate”!

No longer have your portion with those who are destroying Creation(air, water, land, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Truth, Light, Life, Love, Peace, Grace, Faith,,,, All that is Truly Good)!

    Father Help! and HE does…….

Peace, in spite of the dis-ease(no-peace) that is of this world and it’s systems of religion, for “the WHOLE(not just a portion) world is under the control of the evil one” indeed and Truth……(1 John 5:19)
